Grace M Hawkes

Grace M. Hawkes, 83, passed away on November 3, 2023. Grace was born in Jersey City and resided most of her life in Kearny, NJ. Grace is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Teresa DiMartino and her siblings, Anne Rienzo, Catherine DiCiancia, Rose DiMartino, Helen Girardi, and Joseph DiMartino.

Grace Hawkes told it like it is. The youngest of six, Grace’s small stature belied her strong personality, and her family will miss her no-nonsense nature and great laugh. Grace knew how to enjoy her own company and, following a long career with the 3M Company, she could be found happiest in a cozy recliner watching her favorite TV shows. She appreciated the little things: a phone call, a good meal, the music of Elvis. Grace delighted in pets, her own cat and in later years her great-niece’s dog. Grace cared deeply about her family. As an aunt, great-aunt, and great-great aunt, she leaves behind nearly two-dozen nieces, nephews, and their families, whom loved her very much, to rejoin her siblings Anne, Catherine, Rose, Helen, and Joe.

The visitation will take place on Friday, November 10th from 9:30AM-11:00AM, following the visitation a mass of Christian burial will take place at St. Stephen's Church at 11:30AM. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ.
